Hi, just bought a heap of bits amounting to the major working parts of an import 1977 CB125J, as mrs has got me CBT for my 40th, so will be after advice on getting it running and registered.

What I have :
- frame, decent, but could use a lick of paint
- engine with new carb, points, battery, compression and spark but prev owner couldn't start it
- gearbox and sprockets, should be ok
- forks, bit sad
- wheels with brakes, mostly
- tank, headlight, bit rough and been "painted"

What I don't have :
- seat
- clocks
- chain
- lights, or any real idea exactly which ones it expects
- reg, or much of a clue as to how to obtain one
- probably much more

Sadly previous owner chucked a load of bits, including fenders points cover, side panel, seat, etc, so likely never return to original, but would be nice to get it close as a mild period custom.

For now, could use advice on getting it running without killing it, and getting it reg'd.

Cheers,
- Vince

Hi Vince!
Do you have any registration docs from the country it's imported from? If you do it will be a lot easier than if not, as a "dating certificate' will be required if you don't have any. The HOC's Classic Secretary will be able to advise you (see main website).
Everyone knows Red VFRs are faster than any other colour.

Sadly, no. It was found in a French barn, so all I have is an import tax receipt and a turpsy smell in the tank.

I'll take a look at the rest of the site. Thanks.

You need to go to the main HOC website, click on Join the Club, then Contacts. The Classic Secretary is listed there.

If it's as you say, it probably won't be cost-effective trying to put it back on the road. Lack of paperwork will certainly make it more difficult, but not impossible, and replacing missing parts on an old bike can be an issue.
Best of luck!
