New member - old Honda rider
#1
Hi, thought it about time to join and say Hi,.
Im Matt, have been riding Hondas since i was 12 years old and now at 50 think I am committed enough to join.....

Started on a C50 reg RNG 48M which my father gave me and used as a field bike then bought my first road bike at 16, SS50 OVG 48M.
Progressed by way of other makes to a CB125s then a XL125s. After passing my test a couple of Suzuki TS 250s then a Honda CB750FA, CPW315Y.

Fast forward to now and i have a 93 CB1000 Big One and just aquired a 72 SL350k2 (import) to restore so will be asking for lots of advice im sure over the coming months.

Anyway, hi everyone.
Matt.

Hey Matt, the 350 sounds like a nice winter project. There are a few vblogs on ***Tube about restoring 350's that I really enjoy watching and I guess that given time and patience there's a very nice bike to be re-born.

As a new member myself, I'm not sure if (and how) I can give pointers to other 'platforms', but watching videos of restoration projects gave me me the confidence to buy an older bike and to work on it positively... I am currently doing this and enjoying (almost) every minute... However, some minutes can be very challenging, and patience and reading the manual does help (sometimes). I'm currently fitting a luggage carrier which entails quite a lot of re-engineering (thinking, sawing, filing (hours of...) and thinking again), and wondering if the guys at Honda change their designs on a weekly basis...

Cheers Steve, yes they are a good, if a tad overweight bike, been selling mine for the last 5 years to keep family life ticking over but, ahem, just no takers ;o) so she has to stay cossetted in the garage and out for occasional weekend blasts.

I figure if i hold on long enough i will get the SL350 restored and then can start on her.
